Looking After Your Home

There are some simple precautions that you can take to keep your home safe and secure:

Don't make life easy for thieves - leave your home securely locked when you go out.

Be a vigilant neighbour - report suspicious activity to the police or Neighbourhood Wardens.

Watch out for fire hazards and remove them.

Follow the instructions for keeping you smoke alarm in good working order.

Insure the contents of your home.

Don't let condensation build up in your home - it could cause dampness.

Report burst pipes straight away.

If you are going away, on holiday for example, leave a set of keys with a trusted person and let the Assocation know their contact details.

Make sure you know how to switch off your electricity supply in an emergency.

If you smell gas:

Turn off the gas at the mains
Open windows and doors
Don't touch electrical switches
